It used to say here, I have 6 black friends. But that is not true. I mean on my facebook I’m friends with several, 20-30. But sadly where I live it is not very diverse. Many many white people. Stupid ignorant ones at that.

I love Ice Cube, I own Friday, Next Friday, and 3 Kings, as well as several albums and soundtracks that have him on it.
I love making fashion statements. I own a Brewers hat in black and gold, a Pistons hat in baby blue, and a Cubs hat in off green and yellow. I also enjoy a snazzy business suit, argyle vests, and wearing ridiculous amounts of sweat bands while playing basketball. Black people often compliment me on these items.
I love hot sauce! Tobasco, Chili Sauce, Indian Food!!! Anything that has a kick!
I wear copious amounts of sun tan lotion, because I too, enjoy not being sun burnt.
I also love my mama, and big butts too, and bass, and color coordinating, and I think Devin Hester is pretty good. I also like Berry Chill.

I think this is racist and not funny at all. I am very offended at both sites. you cant generalize these things and year ur 6 blk friends prolly said it was funny only because they want to fit in.
I think it’s pretty racist and stereotypical. So is SWPL. But the dif between SWPL and this site is that SWPL is done by Whites. This is not a site done by Blacks. It is highly offensive, and very stereotypical… even down to your ‘about me’:

Expensive rims on crappy cars;
intimidating their neighbors;
weed;
stealing;

not working;
natural ice brand beer;
fat white women;
video games;
You sound like an ignorant person that obviously has not been around alot of black people..
I am around a very large amount of black people, and it sounds accurate to me. I would add to the apartment dwelling black people list: turning up the bass in your car radio and sitting in the parking lot for 15 minutes anytime between 11 pm and 4 am.
How bout backing into parking spaces?

Contrary to why white people like him due to being afraid of being called a racist, black people like him because he is black. Well, at least, he’s the closest to black as any US President has ever been.
This site gets a “nice try” sticker. SWPL is such a “good” site because it’s slightly more intelligent with its choices of satire than SBPLA seems to be. The writer(s) of SWPL clearly has/have some sort of greater insight than you seem to. The vast majority of topics you choose to satire are public-knowledge-generalizations-or-prejudice. Don’t get me wrong, there is humor to be found amongst some of these topics, but when that’s all you do…it just doesn’t work. Most of your posts are just too…”surface”…if that makes sense? To some it comes off offensive, but for the most part it just comes off tired. I think I agree with an earlier post that says this site has “potential” to be truly satirical and funny…it just isn’t quite there yet. I would say that the “Hot Sauce” entry comes the closest to being worth the read.
You should take this site down immediately. It loses its luster because, hmmmm, YOUR NOT BLACK! Except for stereotyping, how could you possibly know what black people like?
Another thing you left off: White people. Black people love white people. Especially when they create sites like this. It lets us know that you’re really not racist or ignorant.

I think this site has the potential to be funny as long as it doesn’t cross the fine line of racism, the ones you’ve said so far are pretty funny. Just don’t use Chris’s above suggestions and you’ll be fine!

You’re not racist ENOUGH.
Stuff White People Like makes fun of white people and makes us look ignorant, boring, physically inferior, and all the other stupid stereotypes the media forces on us to try to assuage the guilt we (for some reason) feel because minorities were treated poorly decades before we were born.
This website is ingratiating and lists things like “Being Good at Sports”, while SWPL lists things like “Correcting Historical Inaccuracies.”
Black people are at least as obviously ridiculous as white people (and more so, considering the general volume level/ratio of real words to made-up words), and they deserve a website that will actually talk about this instead of typical white guilt.
If you aren’t up to this, then hand your password over to somebody who is.
Also, I just wanted to also throw out some support.
Yes, my fellow commenters, it’s true that a white person couldn’t know what all black people like. But neither could a BLACK PERSON know what all black people like. And neither could a white person, like the one who runs Stuff White People Like, know what all white people like.

The fact that SWPL is run by a (self-claimed) white person doesn’t make it less racist, and if this one were run by a black person, it would probably be MORE racist since the author wouldn’t try so hard to let everyone know how “cool” he is with “black culture.”

This Blog is racist. Very. But as I black person I actually am more offended at Christian Lander’s blog than this one.
1. This blog doesn’t pretend to be unoffensive. He is basically telling us to take offense and doesn’t care. He (or she) is saying this shit for shock value. Do I find it humorous? No. I see what the intent is, it’s just not funny…I’ll save my outrage for the KKK and War in Iraq, though.
2. Lander’s blog, unlike this one, offended me because of the racist undertones that come out when he isn’t intending them too. Take this one:

He presumes to tell me and other blacks what we do and do not listen to and enjoy. And before you tell me that the last time you went to a jazz festival you didn’t see black people…save it. I know plenty of black Jazz fans, period.
That’s not to say that this blog is cool with me. It’s a bunch of warmed over stereotypes. Your race isn’t the problem, your obvious lack of exposure to black people is. For all it’s offensiveness, Lander’s blog IS funny, because he knows the group he is blogging about through and through. Its the kind of insight you can only get by either being part of a group or being intimately involved with it, (I.E. being raised around the group, having many close friends that are part of it, having a girlfriend in said group) for many years.

I’m not offended by the comments. It’s just that it lacks authenticity. What made stuffwhitepeople like so funny was that it was clearly written by a white person and had a voice that seemed as though it was directed to minorities. It was a satirical version of WEB DuBois’ “Souls of Black Folks”.
What you need is a consultant. Someone to tell you if that topic that you think black people like really applies. Also it has to be worded as though you are an expert on the fact (which unfortunately, you’re not). It sounds like your’re an outsider looking in, not really speaking from a black point of view.
Lastly, black people are very into trends. What we liked last year, we will not like this year. When you choose a topic, make sure it has to do with the culture of black people, not a trends. Yeah there was a time pimp cups were big, but they haven’t been in style since 2004. Yeah we used to like throwback jerseys, but those are now played out. I hope that makes sense. I think this could be really hilarious. I googled it because I thought there should be a “Stuff Black People Like” website. You NEED to add some more tho! Here’s an idea: step teams, break dancing, drumlines. Even better, a white person who is actually good at stepping, dancing or drumming.
Oh, and a tip:
Make your topics far less obvious. For instance, SWPL didn’t have the overexposed stereotypes such as “Mayonnaise”, “Laguna Beach”, etc. It had unexpected things that could be verified by glancing around oneself at Borders, y’know? Like: “Scarves”, “Juno”, etc.

It’s hard to be trusting these days since racism now generally happens subconsciously and sometimes with ignorant habit. People who are racist or have ridiculing opinions about another race usually don’t consider themselves to be racist, but I do think they tread a thin line. Only the person who views each person as an individual with unique qualities and treats people accordingly is completely unadulterated. … but that is not many people. So, I give people leeway.
Shoot, I personally have opinions about groups of people and even personal feelings about those opinions! Just being honest!
But the line is drawn for me based on the action that results from your thinking. You can’t help your thoughts for the most part. And when you can, it’s a long process. We’re human!
I always try to figure out someone’s intention when something borderline racists happens, but I never can. So, I always walk away neutral- it could be or it couldn’t be racist. OH WELL. I’m still me and happy to be!
If the author was black, that would take a little edge off of the humor, because self racism is a lot less common although very alive. Most would assume a genuine comedic intention.
Anyway, we should worry more about our opinions of ourselves a lot more than others’ opinions of us. I’m an individual. I’m successful and happy.

I have a visual of every item listed at SBPL. Of course, it doesn’t apply to all black people any more than everything at SWPL applies to me.
I learned from my black friends that black do not like rare meat, or, black people like well done meat. I have known a few exceptions, but, it is generally true.
Black people like the color purple. Not the movie, the actual color.
My last girlfriend, who is black, asked me what the deal is with white people and white bath towels. What color towels to black people like?
I learned in Basic Training that black people like to use wash clothes while white people will use a bar of soap alone.
